Come for the music.
Music creates common ground. Our events offer a welcoming way to come together around a cause that touches so many lives.
Music For A CauseRise up. Reach out.Bringing people together through music to raise awareness of addiction, encourage recovery, and support individuals and families affected by it.

Addiction affects more than one life. It touches families, friendships, workplaces, and entire communities. Music For A Cause brings people together to listen, learn, and respond with compassion.
Through music events and guest speakers, we create opportunities for awareness, education, and meaningful conversation—and raise funds to support organizations serving people affected by addiction.
Our vision: Communities where people affected by addiction are met with understanding, connection, dignity, and hope.
A symbol of hope and renewalOur logo is a phoenix. In mythology, the phoenix is a bird that rises again from its ashes, symbolizing renewal, resilience, and a new beginning.
For Music For A Cause, it represents the fall and the rise: the pain and loss addiction can bring, and the possibility of rebuilding a life through recovery. It reminds us that a difficult chapter does not have to be the end of someone’s story.
There is another way. There is hope. People and families affected by addiction deserve compassion, connection, and access to support. Recovery can take time and follow different paths. No one should have to face that journey alone.
Through music, education, and community support, MFAC helps carry that message forward: hope is possible, help is available, and a new beginning can start with reaching out.

MFAC offers education and community connection. We do not diagnose conditions or provide treatment. Professional assessment can help you find care that fits.
Substance use disorders affect health and behavior. Repeated difficulty cutting down, strong urges and continued use despite harm can be reasons to seek an assessment. Recovery can include medical care, counseling, medication, peer support and practical help.
CDC addiction education ↗Partners, children, parents and caregivers may experience worry, broken trust, financial strain and disrupted routines. Family members deserve support of their own. Counseling, clear safety boundaries and family peer support can help. Children are not responsible for fixing an adult’s addiction.
SAMHSA family support resources ↗Alcohol use disorder is the clinical term for difficulty controlling drinking despite harmful consequences. Effective options include behavioral treatment, medication and mutual support. Sudden withdrawal after prolonged heavy drinking can be life-threatening; seek medical advice before attempting to stop when dependence is possible.
NIAAA alcohol education ↗Opioid use disorder is treatable. Medications including buprenorphine, methadone and naltrexone can support recovery. For a possible opioid overdose, give naloxone if available and call 911 immediately. Follow product and dispatcher instructions and stay until help arrives.
Sometimes called “porn addiction,” problematic pornography use may occur within compulsive sexual behavior disorder. Assessment focuses on persistent loss of control and significant harm or impairment. Frequency, strong sexual interest or moral concern alone does not establish a disorder. Confidential professional care can address behavior, distress and relationship concerns.
Mayo Clinic assessment and care ↗Gambling disorder is a recognized behavioral addiction. Warning signs include chasing losses, hiding betting, repeated failed attempts to stop and risking household finances or relationships. Counseling and family support can help; another bet is not a solution to debt.

Every number represents a person and a family. These measures cover different years and definitions, and may overlap. They must not be added together or described as a single addiction death total.
| Measure | Reported figure | Source and context |
|---|---|---|
| United States drug overdose deaths | 79,384 in 2024 | CDC final data ↗. All drug types and intents; not only people with a diagnosed addiction. |
| United States deaths from excessive alcohol use | About 178,000 annually in 2020–2021 | NIAAA estimates ↗. Annual average including disease and injury; not a 2026 count. |
| Rhode Island accidental overdose deaths | 329 in 2024 | RIDOH June 12, 2025 release ↗. Accidental deaths; different scope from the national measure. |
These sources do not establish a reliable annual U.S. death count caused by gambling or problematic pornography use. Resources reviewed October 30, 2026; figures retain their original reporting periods.
